The Zeta SL (guys’s & girls’s ) is still a very well balanced jacket for backpackers seeking to cut back weight but still remain dry in nasty conditions. More durable compared to the Zeta FL, the SL will allow you to venture into more rocky terrain with concerns.

The nylon fabric will stand up to scratch or the occasional bump. However, owing to the 2-layer structure, the SL will require more frequent washings with Tech-Wash to flush oil and sweat from the Gore-Tex compared to some 3-layer rain casing comprising a liner fabric. That said, washing rain equipment is far simpler than most believe. Here is our fast guide on how to wash your rain gear.

What We Do Not Enjoy

Price – In an MSRP of $299, the price of the SL is going to be somewhat high for most backpackers. That said, the Zeta SL is among Arc’teryx rain shells that are inexpensive.
One of the most recent coats introduced by Arc’teryx for the 2019 hiking season, the Zeta SL (guys’s & women’s), is an excellent balance between quality, durability, and weightreduction This SL’s packable and versatile design is a good alternative for hikers seeking to push weather in rocky conditions.

The design of the Zeta SL incorporates more adjustability of a thicker jacket and minimalism that is lightweight. Velcro cuffs and an adjustable drawstring hem allow you to control the match of the jacket, while preserving relaxation and mobility, keeping water out. High zippers on the pockets will adapt a backpack belt or climbing harness, and a main zipper that is completely sealed will keep water.
Breathability – To us, the word”breathable” tends to be misleading in regards to rain shells. That said, hikers will nonetheless want to track their activity level and maintain perspiration to a minimum while. Also, the SL might want a little more washing.
Much like the even lighter Zeta FL (guys’s & women’s), the SL features the brand newest Paclite-Plus Gore-Tex technology. This includes a lightweight casing using a heavy denier nylon face fabric. The nylon, although more inclined to have a beating, does have a tougher and stiffer sense associated with rain cubes that were thicker technical.
